Washington County delivers with one of the most scenic drives in America, State Route 7, the Ohio River Scenic Byway. Twisting and turning along the Ohio River, this 967-mile byway has countless sites to see and stories to be heard along the way. Take the State Route 26 Wayne National Forest historic covered bridge tour of the nine covered bridges in Washington County. In 2004, the editors of RoadRUNNER Motorcycle Cruising & Touring magazine found the opportunities for touring and cruising in Washington County so fabulous that they developed a four day Shamrock Tour, Marietta, Ohio: A Great Ohio River Valley Escape to share with their readers.

Using the historic Lafayette Hotel in downtown Marietta as their home base, RoadRUNNER staff created four touring routes:

Tour 1: The Bridges of Washington County (197 miles)

Tour 2: The Presence of Isabelle (194 miles)

Tour 3: The Northern Leaf (199 miles)

Tour 4: West Virginia Side Trip (230 miles)
