Grand Ole Opry Stars The Whites Coming to Ohio Valley Opry October 17

Belpre, Ohio – Grand Ole Opry stars The Whites will bring their unmistakable family harmonies and decades of country music tradition to the Ohio Valley Opry on Saturday, October 17, 2026, for two performances at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

For many music and movie fans, The Whites are immediately recognizable from the acclaimed film O Brother, Where Art Thou? The group performed “Keep on the Sunny Side” for the film and its Grammy-winning soundtrack, introducing their signature family harmonies to an entirely new generation of listeners.

But The Whites’ place in country music history reaches far beyond the movie screen.

Led by Buck White and featuring daughters Sharon and Cheryl White, The Whites became known for a distinctive sound rooted in traditional country, bluegrass and gospel music. Their close family harmonies and acoustic instrumentation helped establish them as one of Nashville’s most respected family groups.

The Whites joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1984 and became familiar faces on the legendary Nashville stage. Their career has included charting country singles, award nominations, collaborations with some of the biggest names in country and bluegrass music, and performances for audiences across the country.

Their connection to O Brother, Where Art Thou? became another important chapter in that career. The soundtrack became a cultural phenomenon, helping introduce traditional American roots, bluegrass and gospel music to millions of listeners. The album earned the Grammy Award for Album of the Year and became one of the most successful roots-music soundtracks of its era.

Audiences at the Ohio Valley Opry can expect the kind of music that has defined The Whites throughout their career: traditional country, bluegrass, gospel and the family harmonies that have remained at the heart of their sound.

“We are so excited to welcome The Whites back to the Ohio Valley Opry,” said Marvin Clark, owner of the Ohio Valley Opry. “They represent the kind of music we love here. They are Grand Ole Opry stars with an incredible history in country music, but when they walk onto the stage and start singing those family harmonies, there is such a warmth and authenticity to what they do. This is going to be a very special show.”

The October 17 appearance will include two performances, giving area fans the choice of a 3:00 p.m. matinee or a 7:00 p.m. evening show.

The Ohio Valley Opry, located at 1944 Washington Boulevard (behind The Celebration Center Church) in Belpre, presents live country, bluegrass and gospel entertainment in a family-friendly setting. The venue regularly combines nationally recognized performers with regional musicians, continuing its tradition of bringing Nashville-quality entertainment to the Mid-Ohio Valley.
