Their uni que yet traditional approach to Bluegrass music was formed in the spring o f 2022 between a music teacher and his former guitar student from ten year s prior who had recently graduated from Berklee College of Music.\n\nOnly two weeks after Wood Flower’s first public performance they were honored to open for The Seldom Scene\, and have since shared the stage with such greats as Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder\, Wyatt Ellis and East Nash Gr ass.\nThey have entertained music fans at variety of festivals including W ind Gap Bluegrass Festival\, Podunk Bluegrass Festival\, Musikfest\, Appal achian Fiddle &\; Bluegrass Association Festival\, Basin Bluegrass Fest ival and at listening rooms such as Godfrey Daniels\, Sellersville Theater and the Ardmore Music Hall.\nWood Flower's self-titled debut album includ es ten tracks\, seven of which are original material and was released in t he fall of 2024. What began as casual jams in the back of a print shop grew into a shared appreciation for story-driven son gs and a stripped-down sound.\nFrom dimly lit barrooms to the footlights o f festival stages\, Oyo weaves together threads of folk\, honky-tonk\, blu egrass\, and rock into a sound that feels both familiar and entirely their own. They’ve shared the stage with roots music heavyweights including S ierra Ferrell\, Town Mountain\, and Larry Keel\, and keep carving out thei r place in the tradition of stringband music—with songs that nod to good times\, wrong turns\, and the long road home.\n\nOyo trades off lead voca ls between Aaron Martin (fiddle\, mandolin)\, Cole Adair (guitar) and Mich ael Bond (guitar\, keys\, harmonica\, spoons)\, with Bobby Rosenstock (ban jo)\, Drew Tanner (bass)\, and Joe Ryckebosch (drums\, washboard) joining in.\nOyo take their name from the Iroquois word for the Ohio\, meaning “ beautiful river.” Like that big muddy river\, Oyo’s music is fed by ma ny influences and tributaries upstream.
