SUMMARY:My Ohio: A Poetry Reading and Discussion by David Baker
DESCRIPTION:On Thursday\, October 19 at 7 pm\, the Washington County Public
Library will host Ohio poet David Baker for a poetry reading and discussi
on at the Campus Martius Museum.\n\nDavid has lived in Ohio for more than
thirty years\, and his vivid poetry springs directly out of his life and e
xperiences in the Buckeye state. His poems illuminate our villages and far
 ms—from Lake Erie to the Ohio River—our big-city gardens\, small-town
neighborhoods\, and family life. David is also one of the country’s lead
ing eco-poets\, devoted to the natural world—the woods\, the fields\, th
e backyards and creeks of our state\, all the rich flora and fauna that li
ve among us. Drawn from his thirteen books of poems\, David’s poetry rea
dings are lively and warm. He’s eager to read his work and talk with you
about the art of poetry and nature\, and its important place in our lives
and imaginations. See why Marilyn Hacker writes that David Baker “is th
e most expansive and moving poet to come out of the American Midwest since
James Wright.”\n\nThe Campus Martius Museum is located at 601 Second St
reet\, Marietta\, OH. Questions? Call the library at 740-373-1057 x606.
