DESCRIPTION:THE MUSIC OF THE CIVIL WAR\n\nThis program shares some of the m
 ost popular tunes of the Civil War from both sides of the conflict. The mu
 sic is presented in a chronological format\, with the story of each song\,
  and what is happening in the Civil War at the same time. Covers some of t
 he popular patriotic tunes\, melancholy ballads of home\, and a bit of arm
 y humor as well. Shares both music and history with insight to both soldie
 rs and musicians of the period.\n\nSteve Ball is a musician from Columbus 
 Ohio specializing in the music of the American Civil War\, and the music a
 nd life of Stephen Foster. Steve has studied the American Civil War since 
 his teens and has devoted the past thirty five years to studying the music
  of this era in American history. Steve has also accumulated a large colle
 ction of Civil War era sheet music.\n\nThis event is sponsored by the Wash
 ington County Public Library and is FREE and open to the public.
