SUMMARY:Ancient Earthworks Tour
DESCRIPTION:We’ll visit flat-topped earthworks that bear an uncanny resem
blance to Aztec temples\; walk down a sacred road more than 20 centuries o
ld\; and stand atop the Quadranou Mound where ancient shamans studied the
movement of the sun\, moon and stars.\n\n\n\nWe’ll also explore enigm
atic Mound Cemetery\, the final resting place of Revolutionary War Patriot
s\, and hear stories of ancient civilizations as we walk through the lovel
y Victorian neighborhood that surrounds the mounds.\n\n\n\nThis tour is
a fantastic opportunity to step way back in time. Over 2000 years old\, t
he earthworks in this area are an important key to Marietta’s past.\n\n
\n\nAncient Earthworks departs from the Washington County Public Librar
 y at 615 Fifth Street.\n\n\n\n$15 for adults\, $15 for children under 1
2.\n\nTips to guide are appreciated!\n\n\n\nTour duration 90 minutes to
2 hours. The distance covered is just over 1.5 miles.\n\n\n\nAlthough
much of the Ancient Earthworks tour is over sidewalks\, we walk through th
e grass and over some uneven terrain when we visit the Quadranou Mound. Co
mfortable walking shoes are highly recommended. Not an easy tour for those
  with motor issues.\n\nBring your camera!
