Presented by David Baker.

Meet James Backus and learn fascinating details about life in early Marietta. He was an agent for the Ohio Company, a deputy sheriff, a surveyor’s assistant, a merchant and partner in Marietta’s first retail store. He built the first house in Marietta. Fortunately for us, he kept a journal and detailed records – so you can learn all about him.
