Historic Rainbow Cemetery (founded in 1796), located just 20 minutes from Marietta, connects us to the stories of our nation’s history. Visitors will hear compelling accounts of: the cemetery’s land donor who helped uncovered Benedict Arnold’s treason plot, the Rainbow ferry operator who gave his life for Texas Independence, a pioneer woman who started the second Sunday School in the U.S., an enslaved man and the martyred Civil War officer who liberated him, and two veterans who sacrificed their lives for their country 100 years apart in France and Iraq. Join us to discover these and other tales of the people who left an indelible mark on this important early Washington County
Tour begins at Rainbow Cemetery
