Capt. Rick Rhodes talk at the Campus Martius Museum

By Andy Verhoff

Eight time travel guide book author, Captain Rick Rhodes, will be in Marietta, at the Campus Martius Museum, on Saturday, June 21st at offering a one-hour Powerpoint program including scores of photos on our OHIO RIVER.

His programs typically focus on some of the lesser-known historical tidbits.

Rick is well-traveled in the Americas.  By the time he was 22, he hiked the Appalachian Trail, and visited all 48 contiguous states –most by motorcycle.  For 18 years, he lived aboard boats –three of them.  He twice sailed his 33-footer to Central America.  In South America, he served as a Peace Corps Volunteer.  He has taught engineering for the Army, and he has taught sailing.  Wherever he sails, Rick engrosses himself in the local history.

Here is what others have said after hearing talks by Captain Rick:

“I have had the opportunity on more than one occasion to hear Rick Rhodes speak and I am always intrigued by his remarks.  He does his research and you can see his passion for history.  I do not know where he has been all these years, when he should have been on the speaking circuit  …”  --Dale W. Hutchings, Marketing  Specialist, St. Pete,  Florida

“Rick Rhodes brings history to life by including interesting anecdotes.  He turns the lecture hall into a time machine revealing the truth of characters by helping his audience see through their eyes and feel their emotions.  His dynamic speaking style makes for an entertaining lecture.” -- Sheila Wasserman BS, MBA business owner and freelance writer
