With its octagonal tower, trefoil attic window, and stone capped spires, The Castle is one of the best executed examples of Gothic Revival style architecture in Ohio. Interior architectural details include a scagliola fireplace surround, coodge papier-mache moldings, and floor to ceiling shutters on the parlor's bay window. The house, once the home of Ohio Senator Theodore Davis, is furnished with items of historical significance to the area, as well as those typical of the Victorian Era. Educational programs, special events, and changing exhibits are featured throughout the year. The Carriage House Visitors Center includes introductory exhibit and videotape on the history of the site and its families that resided in The Castle. The Historic House Museum is on the National Historic Register.

Children's Programming at The Castle
Children's educational programs at The Castle offer opportunities to experience life as a child in a Victorian Era Marietta home. History comes alive as children are able to learn first-hand through hands-on, interactive activities about the everyday experiences of a Victorian child: the food they ate, the games they played, the music they listened to, and the crafts they made. They also discover an appreciation of Marietta's history, not only through the lives of The Castle's past inhabitants, but also through examination of period artifacts that relate to everyday life. Pre-tour and post-tour activities are available to complement the learning process. All Castle programs are adaptable and can be personalized to fit a group's needs. In addition, The Castle offers special events for children throughout the year. All programs provide a safe, nurturing environment for children to enjoy learning about history.

GROUP TOURS
Groups of 10 or more can be scheduled all year long. Please call ahead to reserve time. Admission is $5.00 per person. The Castle is handicap accessible.
